1, Depart USA Overnight
flight to Zurich.
Day
2, Zurich at Leisure Welcome to Switzerland! Upon arrival at Zurich
Airport you may take the complimentary shuttle service to your hotel.
Later, we take an orientation tour of Switzerland's largest city, showing
us the Bahnhofstrasse, the River Limmat and the Frauenmunster, famous for
its stained glass windows by Marc Chagall. We also see the Grossmünster,
founded by Charlemagne more than one thousand years ago. This evening
enjoy a Welcome Drink with your Tour Director and fellow passengers.
Day
3, Zurich - Mucich Our first stop is at the thundering Rhine
Falls, the most powerful waterfall in Europe. We cross the border into
Germany and follow the shores of lovely Lake Constance, overlooked by
orchards and vineyards. We stop in the fortified island town of Lindau for
a stroll through its historic streets. Later, we depart for Munich,
'fun-loving' capital of Bavaria. (Buffet breakfast)

4, Munich Sightseeing Our Munich sightseeing takes us part the Olympic
Stadium, university and Victory Arch into the heart of the city. We see
the Frauenkirche, and visit the Marienplatz with its Gothic Town Hall and
Glockenspiel. Around the corner lies a colorful food market, which we
explore next. The rest of the day is at leisure. Tonight, why not enjoy
dinner at a world famous 'Bier Keller'? (Buffet breakfast)

5, Munich - Innsbruck Today we travel into the Bavarian Alps for a
guided visit of King Ludwig's fairytale Newschwanstein Castle, perched on
a spectacular Alpine mountainside. This was Ludwig's favorite castle,
through he spent little time here before his death. We visit exuberantly
decorated apartments including the Throne Room and Lohengrin Grotto. Now
we continue to pretty Oberammergau, setting of the Passion Play, performed
every 10 years since 1633. Finally we cross the Austrian border to
Innsbruck, where we view the Golden Roof and Imperial Palace in the Old
Town and admire the rococo interior of the Wilten Basilica. (Buffet

Day
6, Innsbruck - Vienna This morning we depart for the beautiful baroque
city of Salzburg, and today, the venue for one of the world's most
important music festivals. With a local guide, we visit the Mirabell
Gardens and the great cathedral. We also see Mozart's birthplace and
several locations associated with 'The Sound of Music'. We then drive past
picturesque Mondsee Lake and along the Danube Valley, seeing the
impressive Melk Abbey en route to imperial Vienna for our two night stay.
Tonight we have the chance to enjoy some Viennese specialties at our
highlight dinner in a local restaurant. (Buffet breakfast/ Dinner)

7, Vienna Sightseeing A local guide takes us into the glorious State
Apartments of Schönbrunn Palace, although not into all of its 1400 rooms!
The furniture, fixtures and fittings impressively reflect the lifestyle of
the Palace residents and are of major significance in terms of cultural
history. We now see its elegant formal gardens before going on to view the
great St Charles' Church, the imperial Hofburg Palace, the Parliament and
the great State Opera House. Later, if you feel hungry, perhaps pop into
one of the celebrated Viennese cafes for a coffee and pastries? (Buffet
breakfast)
Day
8, Today we take a delightful drive through
'undiscovered' Austria – the pine forests and sleepy towns and villages
of Styria and Carinthia. We climb the dramatic Semmering Pass to stop in
picturesque Kindberg with its colorful maypole. We continue alongside
streams and through farmlands to the Austrian Lake District, passing
Klagenfurt and Lake Worth. Finally we arrive in Villach, a spa town
surrounded by magnificent country, for our overnight stay. (Buffet
breakfast/ Dinner)
Day
9, Villach - Bolzano Spectacular scenery all the way today as we cross
the Italian border to see the distinctive formations of the Dolomites,
where rugged peaks take the form of towers, belfries, or domes. We stop in
the ski resort of Cortina d'Ampezzo which hosted the 1956 Winter Olympics.
As the mountain colors change to soft pinks, we reach Bolzano, capital of
the Alto Adige region. (Buffet breakfast/ Dinner)
Day
10, Bolzano - St Moritz We drive through the Swiss National Park
today, and along the beautiful Engadine Valley, considered by some at the
most beautiful area in the world; deep blue lakes, mountain peaks
exceeding 12,000 ft and larch forests. Now we approach the fashionable ski
resort of St. Moritz for our overnight stay. Later , there's time to
browse in the elegant boutiques or perhaps take a ride on the famous
Bernina Express? (Buffet breakfast/ Dinner)
Day
11, St Moritz - Lucerne Today we follow part of the same route as the
Glacier Express. Sit spellbound as white stone houses, lush meadows, and
snow capped mountains slip past. Our journey then takes us to the
Principality of Liechtenstein. We pause in Vaduz below the 700 year old
castle, then on to one of Europe's most popular cities, Lucerne. This
afternoon we embark on a spectacular highlight – ascending Mount Pilatus
by cog-wheel train and cable car! From the summit of this majestic
mountain you can enjoy some of the best views in the Swiss Alps! (Buffet
Breakfast/ Dinner)
Day
12, Lucerne Sightseeing Our day begins with the sorrowful sculpture of
the dying lion, commemorating those Swiss Guards who died at the Battle of
the Tuileries. Then a stroll across the Chapel Bridge brings us to the
Jesuit Church, before free time to shop for chocolate or Swiss watches?

Day
13, Lucerne - Return to USA Our tour ends at Zurich Airport with two
transfers leaving from the hotel at 07.30 and 11.30 hours. Transfers are
only included in the Air & Land package. (Buffet breakfast)
