The Metropole (Romantik Hotel)
is top centrally located in
the heart of historic Venice, few steps from St
Mark's Square with a fabulous
view of the lagoon where it meets
the Grand Canal. A First
Class
hotel in a house built on the
site of an orphanage church in
which Antonio Vivaldi composed
and played his music, between
1703 and 1740. In the late 1800
it became "Pension
Kirsch" and among the
lodgers in the year 1895 was
Sigmound Freud (Father of the
Psychoanalysis). This lovely
building has been restored to its
former splendor. The interiors
are as baroque as can be, gilded
chandeliers, clocks and mirrors,
bronze cherubs and the eclectic
2000 pieces displays of musical
instruments, fans, corkscrews and
Italy largest collection of
crucifixes. The 70 rooms,
all different and all in typical
Venetian style, have
bathroom, minibar, TV color,
telephone and are all
air-conditioned.
