The Cavalletto & Doge Orseolo
Hotel is just behind the beautiful St.
Mark's Square, at walk distance from
most interesting points
of Venice. It's one of the
oldest hotels in Italy, dating
back to the 13th century when the
Doges of Venice would stop on
their way to hunt boar on the
Lido. Here, in between the two
world wars, the Marchesa Casati
and the Duke of Abruzzi held
court for the intelligentsia.
Richard Strauss and Sir Winston
Churchill slept here. All 96
Venetian furnished rooms are
equipped with direct dial phone,
individually controlled A.C.,
minibar, satellite TV, hairdryer,
safe deposit box. Some of them
are Junior. Suites and some are
overlooking the Orseolo Basin,
the gondolas' dock.
