The hotel is situated very close to Piazza Dell'Indipendenza and the Fortezza da Basso. It is just a ten minute walk from Florence's principal tourist attraction, the Duomo. The Palazzo Ricasoli Residence, once owned by the Ricasoli family, breathes an atmosphere of dignity and antiquity, right down to its ancient stones and elegant portico. The Residence found its home in this Palazzo thanks to important research and restoration work. This made it
possible to bring one of the most important monuments of the Florentine Renaissance back to life again. Soon after 1538, Bishop Giovan Battista Ricasoli commissioned the Humanist architect, Cosimo Bartoli, to design the palace. Then, by order of Cosimo de' Medici, the palace became a monastery, called San Miniato al Ceppo. Today, it has been restored to its old self, although the huge gardens that once surrounded the palace, are long gone. In the 16th
century these gardens extended right down to under the city walls. This prestigious work of art, now restored to the Florentine heritage, has been opened to guests of the city of Florence. The palace is only a stone's throw the most important events and land-marks that made Florence famous – cultural, social and commercial. The large rooms are apartment style and all have a fitted kitchen area, a lounge, bathroom with shower, direct dial
telephone, air conditioning and television. The rooms contain large armchairs and tables. The floors are ceramic tiled "Cotta" style. Both the rooms and bathrooms are in good condition. This hotel is an excellent property in an ideal location. In addition there is a roof terrace and a quiet spacious courtyard/garden area where guests can relax in a peaceful and serene environment.
