The
Excelsior Vittoria is a unique hotel, set in the very same place
where it is said that the Roman Emperor Augustus had a beautiful
villa with its magnificent views of Vesuvius and the Bay of
Naples. The hotel panoramic terraces, where Kings and Queens,
Artists (Wagner, Enrico Caruso, Jack Lemmon, Marilyn Monroe,
Sophia Loren) and many other prominent celebrities rested, are
famous for their breathtaking views. For over 165 years since
1834 this hotel, situated on such a heavenly comer of the earth,
has been owned and operated by the Fiorentino family. Almost all
rooms have a terrace or a balcony facing the Gulf of Naples or
the five acres orange grove surrounding the hotel. The antique
suites are tastefully furnished with original period furniture.
The Enrico Caruso’s suite, very much in demand, is kept in the
same style as it was in 1921 when the famous Italian Tenor
lodged there for over a month.
