The food in all of Italy was superb, the people mostly friendly (even when we went the wrong way on the bus), and the sun scorching the entire time that we were there. All of the hotels were great-we especially loved the Jolly Carlton in Florence.  We managed the rental car fairly well once we figured out how to get out of Sienna and thoroughly enjoyed visiting six different Tuscan towns, including San Gimignano, Volterra, Assisi, Pienza, and Montepulciano, two each day. Trying to get out of Rome and then into Florence was very challenging.  It took us 2 hours to get out of Rome because we kept driving around in circles. Once we were on the autostrada, we were fine.
